The process of creating a custom dress begins with you.

During our initial consultation, we will discuss all the important elements you are looking for in your dream dress and will devise a plan of how Mrs. Jones Bridal can make your vision a reality!

  • Style refers to the overall look of you are wanting to achieve for the dress and inspiration can stem from any anywhere. Perhaps you are drawn to a fashion trend from previous decades or looking to combine elements from different cultures or simply wanting to incorporate your favorite color. The dress can be a combination of multiple internal and external influences that makes the dress uniquely yours.

  • Shape refers to how the dress will be draped on your figure as well as specific features the serve either an aesthetic or tactical function. Whether you are looking for something sleek and form-fitting like a mermaid or bold and dramatic as a ball gown, we will construct a dress that compliments the both style you are trying to achieve as well as equip it to meet any unique challenges you will face on your wedding day.

  • Materials refer to the selection of fabrics and textual elements that showcase and solidifies the story of your design. The choice of fabrics will impact the dynamics and dimensions of your dress and intricate details like beading and lace create eye-catching elements that draws you into the design. The seasonal climate and activities that constitute your day will dictate which materials are used to create a dress that leaves you equally stylish and comfortable.

  • Start Here: Initial Consultation

    Meet with the designer and connect over details for a custom dress that reflects you and your personality. We will go over the design process in full detail as well as pinpoint which elements of the dress are most fitting to your style and specific needs. Together we will devised a plan to bring your dream dress to life!

  • Week 2: Design Consultation

    After the initial brainstorm session, the designer will spend about next two weeks drafting up a potential design and selecting preliminary fabrics based on your creative input. We will use this consultation to go over the presented options and either modify the design further or move onto the next stage of alterations with a muslin draft.

  • Week 6: 1st Muslin Fitting

    Once the design has been approved, a 3D mock-up of the design will be sewn with muslin fabric based on your provided measurements and then fitted to your exact curvature. You can also use this time to modify the shape of the dress further by altering necklines, waistlines, hems, sleeves, etc. Lastly, we will begin to review swatches to start narrowing down fabric choices for the design.

  • Week 10: 2nd Muslin Fitting

    Your second muslin fitting will further fine tune the garment after all modifications from the first round. You still have the options the alter the garment as your see fit and if it takes multiple rounds of muslin fittings to get it just right that is exactly what we’ll do. Once you are completely happy with how you look and feel in the mock-up, it will become the pattern by which the final selected fabric for the dress are cut.

  • 6 Months: 1st Dress Fitting

    About 6 months out from your wedding, you will have your first dress fitting in your gown produced from the previous muslin template. Slight adjustments to the fit will be marked and we will confirm the placements of unique structural components and outline the arrangements of additional layers textual elements such as beading and lace.

  • 3 months: 2nd Dress Fitting

    About 3 months out from your date, your dress shall be fully constructed with the final layers of detailing incorporated from the first fitting. It will be ready and waiting for you to try on in all its glory. If your friends and family are not able to make it to the first fitting, you will definitely want to make sure they are able to accompany you for this occasion so everyone can partake and witness you experiencing the iconic the “I found my dress moment.”

  • 3 Weeks til Wed: The Final Fitting

    Things are getting down to the wire! A few weeks have passed since you’ve tried on your dress and this will be our final check-in to make sure everything is still perfect for the big day. If all is still magically perfect then you are welcome to take the dress home with you that very day or have us store it until closer to your date. Additionally, in the final weeks surrounding your last fitting you have the opportunity to partake in a complimentary bridal session that showcases your one-of-a kind gown.

  • 1 Week til Wed: Dress Pick Up

    It’s official! Its almost time for you to take your vows and that means handing over your dream dress so you can take the final leap in your journey to becoming a Mrs. Jones Bride.
